The work I create is designed to entertain and provide a sense of joy. Cheerful surfaces and simple forms are an intentional invitation to engage my pottery. I compose layers of color and pattern, bringing together stained and burnished surfaces, to suggest an emotional duality between happiness and despair. The work reflects influences with American folk art, mid-century motifs, and my personal interests in both real and idealized domestic landscapes.
He then continued his education for two years at the renowned Penland Schoolof Crafts as a core fellowship student and spent a year as an artist-inresidence at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN.
