Who are you and what do you do?

I am a freelance Designer, Illustrator

Hello, my name is Mike Goodwin. I specialise in humorous illustrations. Why art? As a creative person art is something that I have always enjoyed doing. What is your earliest memory of wanting to be an artist? As a child I liked to draw and was considered good at it. Unlike many artists, I am not passionate about my work. What are your favourite subject s and media s?

I am motivated by humour and often inspired by music, Until fairly recently, the majority of my output has been pen and ink drawing with occasional splashes of colour. However I intend to paint more in future. I have also been experimenting with digital art and have produced a series of digital collages in a pop-art, retro style using existing images from my back catalogue.

This has allowed me to introduce more colour into my work. How do you work and approach your subject? Text is an important element in my work, so often, the first step for me is to think of a title that sounds good e. I like my images to look amusing, quirky or enigmatic so that they work visually without the text, but more often than not I will add some text to the image or maybe a caption in addition to the title.
